"How can I find information on an ER patient?" Kevin asked a nurse.

                      "What’s their name?"

                      "Lara Richard."

"There isn’t a report listed. That mean’s she’s probably in surgery. If you’d kindly wait in the waiting room, I’ll get you when I get an update." Kevin nodded and sat down. He looked towards the door and saw A.J run out, get in his car and speed off. He sighed and took a deep breath. Just then, he saw Brian and Nick run to the door.

"Kev, have you seen A.J?" Nick asked, out of breath.

"Yeah, he just drove off," Kevin replied.

"Damn it," Brian cursed, putting his hand to his head, "A.J went to find Amanda."

                      "Damn it!"

"I know…this really ain’t good," Nick sighed, sitting down.

"Yo Nick, the back of your shirt is soaked with blood."

"Huh?" Nick turned his shirt around and gasped, "It’s the cut I got."

"Nick man, you should have that looked at. Then you can change into this,"

Kevin handed Nick a black Nike shirt from his bag.

                      "Alright, thanks Train."

                      "No prob."

Just then, a doctor came out and gave the nurse a bunch of papers before walking away. The nurse looked through the papers and called Kevin over.

Kevin looked at his cousin nervously and Brian smiled hopefully, motioning Kevin to go. Kev sighed and got up, walking to the nurse station.

                      "Um…you called me?" Kevin asked.

"Yes sir…I got some news on Ms. Richard."

"Oh…please tell me she’s alive," Kevin whispered.

"Yes sir, Ms. Richard is alive."

                      "Oh thank God!"

"She’s in a coma though, with a couple broken bones and stitches."

                      "Oh God…may I see her?"

                      "Well…are you family?"

"Well…no ma’am, not officially. She’s my girlfriend, well more now."

                      "Ah, fiancé, well…okay, come on."

"Thank you ma’am," Kevin replied, ignoring the fact that he and Lara were not engaged, though he was planning on asking her.

"No problem, I’ve been in a situation like this. Follow me," the nurse smiled.

Kevin nodded and told Brian he was going before following the nurse to Lara’s room. She pointed to a door and walked away. Kevin took a deep breath and stepped into the room, shutting the door behind him. The room was dark, except for the many machines attached to his girlfriend. He looked at her and held in tears. She looked so pale and there were cuts on her beautiful face along with ones on her arms. Kevin sat in the chair next to her bed and took her hand as tears began to roll down his cheeks.

"Lara…you have to be okay. You have to wake up. I…I can’t live without you.

Please…I know I shouldn’t of left you alone. This is all my fault…I’m so sorry," Kevin whispered through his tears, "Please, you…you promised you wouldn’t leave me. Remember? You can’t break that promise Lara…you can’t. We have so much time to be together…please."

A single tear fell from Kevin’s green eyes and landed on Lara’s cheek. Just then, Kevin felt a soft squeeze on his hand and looked at Lara, her brown eyes slowly opening. Kevin watched in shock and more tears fell from his eyes.

                      "Kev…" Lara began.

"Hey baby," he smiled, his eyes dripping tears.

                      "Amanda…I saw her…Amanda…"

"I know, we all know. Brian went to the cops. It’ll be okay."

There was a knock on the door and the nurse from before entered the room.

"She’s awake! Oh good!" the nurse called gleefully.

Kevin mused a smile while Lara’s eyes closed again. Kevin shook Lara’s arm lightly and her eyes reopened.

"Don’t worry, she’ll be fine. It’s the pills. They make her sleepy," the nurse explained. "For right now, you’ll have to wait outside. I have to get a doctor in here for an update."

"No, don’t leave me," Lara protested.

"I’m not going anywhere," Kevin told the nurse sternly.

"Fine, you can stay. However, if you feel queasy, you have to leave. We’ll be running some pretty gory tests."

                                      "Agreed," Kevin nodded.
